Dear Parents and Students:

I would like to take this opportunity to invite Santa Rosa High School Juniors and whoever else to take the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test, known commonly as the PSAT/NMSQT, on Saturday, October 14, 2017.  This exam measures critical reading, math problem-solving and writing skills.  After taking the test, students and parents will receive a score report, containing valuable feedback about the academic skills of the tested student including score ranges, national percentiles and the Selection Index used to determine entrance into scholarship competitions.  The score report also shows the correct answers, the answers given, difficulty level of each question, math content involved, skills that need strengthening, and suggestions for improvement.  Students are also given access to My College QuickStart, a free personalized college and career planning kit.

Students interested in taking the PSAT will need to sign up with their student ID and pay $25 (cash or money order) in the Business Office.  Sign-ups for juniors will be Monday, September 11th through Friday, September 22nd.  Everyone else can sign up for the PSAT on Monday, September 25th through Friday, October 6th.  Sign-ups will take place before school, break, lunch and after school in the Business Office.  Please act quickly if you are interested as there are a limited number of tests available. If you have further questions, please go to www.collegeboard.com/psat for sample questions and test information.
