Letter to Parents

October 23, 2017

Dear Parents, Guardians and School Community,

As we start to rebuild after devastating losses in our community, we hope this letter finds our students, parents, guardians and school community hopeful and optimistic for the future.  Our superintendent, Ms. Kitamura just announced this afternoon that Santa Rosa High School (and the remainder of Phase Two schools) will open on Monday, October 30th to students.  Please look over the list of calendar dates and events below.  Our school is now being thoroughly cleaned inside and out by a huge crew through a private cleaning company to ensure our facilities are clean and ready to go for our students.  Teachers and staff members will meet before the students return to discuss grades, curriculum, counseling and support for our students, and to prepare their classrooms.  For more details and information, please see our website at www.santarosahighschool.net.

Please remind our students not to worry about grades, homework, projects or reports.  We will discuss all of this with them when they return.  If students have lost their textbooks, we will replace them.  Any student that was a SRHS student before the fires will remain a SRHS student, no matter where they are now living.

We want to extend our sincerest thank you to all of our first responders and all of our community members that have helped our school and district through this terrible time.  We have had multiple FFA chapters from throughout the state delivering donations for our students, our Student Teacher  Parent (STP) Organization has stepped up once again to provide support and planning for our first week back, and our SRHS Foundation has already raised and given funds to the school administration to purchase backpacks, school supplies, etc.  Our school community is amazing!

If your child is in need of any school supplies, backpack, etc., please do not purchase these items as we have an inventory for all students in need.  We will host a “mini-orientation” in the North Gym on the day before school starts, October 27th from 8:00am-Noon for any and all students that have been affected by the fires.  These students will be able to get new textbooks that may have been lost in the fires, new backpacks and school supplies, new ID cards, new P.E. clothes, and can speak to a school counselor.  We will also have Free and Reduced lunch forms available, along with a city and county resources list.
