Dear Parents, Guardians and our Santa Rosa High School Community members,

After three weeks of being closed due to the terrible firestorms that ravaged our community, it was wonderful to have students back at school on October 30th.  We started our first day back with a whole school breakfast and reconnection time on Nevers Field.  All 2000 students were able to check in with their friends, teachers and counselors.  There were a lot of hugs and tears, smiles and caring.  Our fabulous Student, Teacher, Parent Organization put on breakfast for all of our students that morning, providing warm food to everyone!  The event was much needed and a huge success.  The rest of the week was an ease back into school for everyone.  We had extra support on campus the first two days, and will continue to provide support for our students throughout the year.  STP will also continue to have room 144 available to all students and their families for any needs, including backpacks and school supplies, food, toiletries, clothing, etc.

The amount of support that our school received during the firestorm is truly amazing.  We are continuing to receive support through gift cards and donations.   Before school started, we were able to give each student that lost their homes a $100 gift certificate.  Panther Athletic Fund Committee was able to give each athlete that lost their home a $200 gift card!  Those that were affected by the fires were given new backpacks and school supplies, and every family in need was able to get clothing, blankets, food, and toiletries.  We will continue to check in on and support our students in need throughout the year. Here are a list of the groups that have reached out to help our students and staff members in need:

  • Santa Rosa Teachers Association
  • SRHS Foundation
  • Panther Athletic Club
  • SRHS Student, Teacher, Parent Organization
  • FFA Chapters from throughout the State of California
  • Friends of ArtQuest
  • Dutch Bros
  • Steele and Hops
  • National Guard
  • Veterans Groups: 22 Too Many, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10789
  • Sonoma County Office of Education
  • Redwood Credit Union
  • Many, many individuals in our community

Again, thank you to everyone that has helped support our great school during this difficult time.  It is because of our parent, student and community support that makes our school so great.

Sincerely,

Brad Coscarelli
