Dear Staff, Students, Families and School Community,

As I continue my second year a principal at Santa Rosa High School it has been my sincere pleasure and honor to part of such an accomplished school community. Santa Rosa High School enjoys a rich history of academic and cultural excellence that is the result of a collegial partnership between the school staff, families, and community who provide a diversity of experiences for the students. During my seven years in the Santa Rosa City Schools District as an administrator, I have indeed found this close working relationship and focus upon what is best for students to exist. I am truly honored to serve in this position, and I am looking forward to continuing to work with the dedicated Panther staff to provide the best possible educational experiences for our students.

Before coming to Sonoma County, my professional career included teaching history at the secondary and post-secondary levels, working as a program coordinator and as an administrator in both public and private schools on the island Oahu in the State of Hawaii. Although 14 years of my career and my doctorate of philosophy in educational policy studies are rooted in the Hawaiian islands, what I find comparable is the student-centered approach to education that characterizes both districts and results in excellent programs and educational experiences for all students. Parents and staff who collaboratively work together each day for the students is the exemplary quality that attracted me to Santa Rosa High School. I continue to excited to be part of Santa Rosa High School's 145-year tradition of serving and educating the Santa Rosa City community.

I plan to continue to work closely with everyone to make our school the best it can be. My primary focus is to provide the support and leadership that will facilitate a school environment that is welcoming, safe, engaging and nurturing to our students. The educational programs at Santa Rosa must continue to be academically challenging and relevant by linking the curriculum to previous knowledge and experience and also be exciting to promote further exploration of new ideas. Parents, teachers, support staff, and administration all have an essential role to encourage our students to become active learners and contributors to our community. It is my sincere desire to provide expanded opportunities for our students to acquire the skills to become productive citizens in a vastly changing society. Through a close and collegial partnership with everyone associated with Santa Rosa High School, I am confident that together we will continue to make our school an even a better place for all students to learn and grow.

In advance, thank you for your attention to this message. Over the next few days and weeks, I look forward to and welcome opportunities to get to know the staff, students, families, and community of Santa Rosa High School. Go Panthers!
